This Too Shall Pass

Posted by on April 21, 2011

When it comes to parenting I am often telling myself ‘this too shall pass’; and while I know this to be true, those more difficult or time consuming phases of child-rearing can seem very long, especially since they usually have no scheduled ending.  Having more than one child experiencing a difficult phase at the same time can be particularly draining on emotions.

Recently I have had two of those phases come to an end (three if you count each child involved) which has left me with a feeling of freedom for the time being.  The biggest one of course is that BD is now sleeping through the night.  What a difference sleep can make!  The other is that both girls are no longer requiring my help in wiping after using the potty.  This is especially helpful now that I’m breastfeeding.

One of these days soon we will need to enter the phase of potty training the Little Guy.  I am sooo not looking forward to that.  I’ve never had to do it while breastfeeding before and I just know the odds are that the time he’ll need me is when I’m unavailable.  I think our housing situation this summer might lend itself nicely to the ‘let them run naked outside’ method.  I am praying he gets the idea quickly like Princess did instead of being very resistant like the other two.
